The awarding of the OVAM Ecodesign Award PRO, included four years ago as an additional category of The Henry Van de Velde Awards, could count on a great interest of the press this year. The winners of the OVAM Ecodesign Award PRO in the categories "product on the market" and "product in development", are mentioned in many articles.
In the annex of culture of 'De Morgen' (edition 18th January, 2012), the winners of the Henry van de Velde Award were listed, including Solarwind, the winner of the OVAM Ecodesign Award in the category 'product in development'.
'Belga' also gave a list of all the winners in his article 'Henry van de Velde Awards 2011 awarded to Flemish designers.'
'Het Belang van Limburg' published on 18th January 2012 the article 'Hegge ID wins OVAM prize for light weight car door' and 'Het Nieuwsblad' published on 19th January the article: 'Very light car door wins Ecodesign Award'. Both articles refer to the design of LWD (Light Weight Door demonstrator) designed by Hegge ID. The same design office received a nomination for another design, namely a carafe to promote drinking water from the tap. In the interview with 'Het Nieuwsblad', manager Frans Hegge declares that the company is extremely proud with the Award and Nomination.
The VRT news brought Buzzispace, the winner of the Henry van de Velde Award for 'Company' of 2011, in the spotlight. Buzzispace received this prestigious Award because they could become an international player in the sector in less than five years. In 2009, Buzzispace received the OVAM Ecodesign Award PRO for their product range. Their products are made from fibers of waste PET bottles.
