Battle of Talents is the business plan competition for students from higher education in Flanders. More than 550 students in 119 teams signed up for Battle of Talents.
The victory was for trAXi, a project of Henry Vansompel, PhD student at the Laboratory for Electrical Power Engineering of Ghent University and Kim De Witte, master English-Spanish student at University College Ghent. They have won € 25 000 starting capital. TrAXi offers customizable, electrical machines with an improved efficiency, which is very useful in the manufacturing, transport and the generation of renewable energy.
Henry Vansompel is enormously delighted. "I didn't thought we had a chance to win. That's why I spoke very relaxed to the jury." The morning after the victory, he immediately talked with the representative of the Industrial Research Fund. "We are looking at the next steps to go into business."
